Residence for Retirees or Pensioners
This residence permit applies to foreign nationals who receive a retirement or pension from a foreign government, international organization, or private company, and who enter Panamanian territory with the intention of settling in the country, possessing sufficient financial means to cover all living expenses for themselves and their dependents. The monthly pension or retirement income must not be less than ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS (USD 1,000.00) and must be granted for life.
Requirements:
- Power of Attorney and Application.
- Three (3) photographs.
- Duly notarized copy of the passport.
- Criminal Background Certificate, duly apostilled or authenticated.
- Medical certificate of good health.
- Sworn Personal Background Declaration Form.
- Certification of the applicant’s status as a retiree or pensioner issued by a foreign government, international organization, or private company, confirming the receipt of a lifetime pension not less than ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS (USD 1,000.00) per month, or its equivalent in foreign currency.
- Currency conversion letter from foreign currency to U.S. dollars issued by the National Bank of Panama.
If the pension or retirement income is granted by a private company, the following documents must also be submitted:
- Letter from a foreign pension fund administrator, trust company, mutual fund, insurance company, or bank, certifying that it manages the funds on behalf of the company or the applicant.
- Certification of the existence and good standing of the company that provides the pension and manages the fund.
- Copy of a payment receipt or bank account statement.
